10 Bible Verses to Read When You Feel Lost

We all have those moments. Moments where we don’t know which way to turn. Where the future feels uncertain, the present feels overwhelming, and the past feels like a weight we can’t shake. Moments where we feel completely and utterly lost.

If you’re in one of those moments right now, know this: you are not alone, and you are not without hope. God’s Word is filled with promises specifically for people who feel exactly the way you feel right now. Here are 10 powerful Bible verses to read when you feel lost — let them wash over your heart and remind you of the truth.

1. Psalm 23:3 “He refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for His name’s sake.”

When you feel lost, remember that guidance is not something you have to find on your own. God Himself promises to guide you along the right path. You don’t need to figure everything out — you just need to follow Him.

2. Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.”

Feeling lost often happens when we rely too much on our own understanding. This verse is a powerful reminder to stop straining to figure it all out and simply trust God. He will straighten your path.

3. Isaiah 41:10 “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”

Fear and feeling lost often go hand in hand. God speaks directly to that fear here. He is with you. He will strengthen you. He will hold you up even when you feel like you’re falling.

4. Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

This is one of the most beloved verses in all of Scripture, and for good reason. When you feel like your life has no direction, God says — I already have a plan for you. A good plan. A hopeful plan. A future full of purpose.

5. John 14:6 “Jesus answered, ‘I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.'”

When you are lost, the answer is not a strategy or a plan — the answer is a Person. Jesus is the way. He doesn’t just show the way, He IS the way. Turn to Him and you will never be truly lost

6. Psalm 32:8 “I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you.”

God is not a distant God who throws you into life and walks away. He promises to instruct you, teach you, and keep His loving eye on you every step of the way. You are always in His sight.

7. Matthew 11:28 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”

Sometimes feeling lost comes from exhaustion — from carrying too much for too long. Jesus invites you to come to Him exactly as you are, weary and burdened, and He promises rest. Not just physical rest, but deep soul rest.

8. Romans 8:28 “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.”

Even in your most lost and confused season, God is working. He is taking every broken piece, every wrong turn, every painful moment and weaving them into something good. Nothing is wasted in God’s hands.

9. Psalm 119:105 “Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.”

When you can’t see the road ahead, open God’s Word. It doesn’t promise to light up the entire journey at once — just the next step. And sometimes, the next step is all you need.

10. Isaiah 43:1 “Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine.”

Of all the things you could feel when you are lost, the most important truth to hold onto is this: you belong to God. He knows your name. He has called you His own. You may feel lost, but you are never lost to Him.
