God Spoke to Me in a Dream: Testimonies That Will Give You Chills

Acts 2:17 contains a promise that has never expired: “In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams.” God speaking through dreams is not an Old Testament phenomenon that ended with the closing of the canon. Across the world, believers — and even non-believers — continue to report encounters with God in the night that defy rational explanation.

Here are three testimonies that will strengthen your faith.

The Dream That Stopped a Suicide

A man in his forties — we will call him James — had made his decision. He had written the note. He had made his arrangements. That night, he fell into an exhausted sleep and dreamed of a figure standing in a field of light who spoke four words: “I am not finished.” James woke up weeping. He could not explain it. He called a crisis line instead. Today he leads a ministry for men in crisis and attributes his life directly to that four-word dream.

The Dream That Prepared a Mother

A woman in her fifties dreamed of her adult son surrounded by a golden light, smiling and at peace. Three days later, her son passed away suddenly in an accident. She describes the dream as God’s mercy — preparation for what was coming, assurance that her son was safe in His hands. “I would have been destroyed,” she says. “Instead, I was held.”

The Muslim Who Dreamed of Jesus

Across the Middle East and in Muslim-majority nations worldwide, a phenomenon that missiologists have documented extensively involves people with no prior Christian exposure dreaming of a figure in white who identifies Himself as Jesus. Many of these individuals have sought out Christians afterward to ask about the man in their dream. Entire house churches have been planted from these supernatural encounters. God is not limited by geography or religion when He wants to reach a human heart.

How to Test Whether a Dream Is From God

1 John 4:1 instructs believers to test the spirits. A dream from God will never contradict Scripture. It will lead you toward repentance, faith, or love — never away from them. It will leave a lasting impression that does not fade like ordinary dreams. And it will ultimately point to Jesus.

A Prayer for Those Who Long to Hear From God

“Lord, I want to hear Your voice. Speak to me in the way You choose — in Your Word, in prayer, in community, and yes, even in my dreams. Help me to be still enough to listen and discerning enough to recognize Your voice. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”

God is still speaking. The question is whether we are listening. Share this with someone whose faith needs the reminder that God is real and active.
